The wedding dress hub of Perth
It's known as the wedding dress hub - clusters of wedding dress boutiques along Oxford Street in Leederville and the adjoining suburbs of Mt Hawthorn and Mt Lawley. They might not be as flashy as some of the bigger shops, but for some brides these smaller ones are less intimidating while still catering for the modern bride with a fabulous selection of contemporary and sensual gowns. These are some of the dresses worn by brides I photographed that spoke highly of these boutiques.
I loved the soft lace sleeves and plunging back on Bek's dress, which she purchased at Cupid's Bridal in Mt Lawley. It oozes old world, vintage glamour with her hair in 1920s style waves. Cupid's Bridal extensive online catalogue is also a great source of inspiration.
Tahlia purchased her gown from Aubrey Rose in Mt Hawthorn. She loved the bodice when she saw the dress but wasn't so keen on the more fitted skirt. So Aubrey Rose replaced the skirt with this one to create a beautiful, soft flowing dress with its eye catching neck line.
Claire purchased her dress from newcomer Maevana who is already making waves in the Perth wedding dress industry. Maevana is for the bride who doesn’t want to be overly bridal - think of linens and Chantilly lace in modern form. Claire loved the way her linen summer dress didn’t have to be bustled to enable her to shake her moves on the dance floor at her wedding
Stefania was looking for that vintage feel for her dress, a touch of 1950s glamour with a fitted high waist and full flowing skirt. She found it at Tuscany Bridal in Leederville and promptly fell in love with it. So did her groom Kyle, but I think he would have fallen in love with whatever she was wearing!
Just a little bit further outside the wedding hub is Collezione in West Perth where Kate found this stunning dress with its intricate lace and beading. The shoulder capped sleeves and contoured shape, flowing out to a subtle train lends itself to one of those sensual dresses that will stand the test of time.
