I've been treated to a feast of culturally diverse weddings so far this year. Following the wedding I shot in Oman last month (of which I can't show the images, sorry - out of respect to their privacy and cultural reasons) I am excited to share this beautiful Serbian wedding with you. This was my first traditional Serbian wedding that I have shot and I have never seen guests so keen to begin dancing, even before they have left for the ceremony! I didn't understand a word of the ceremony at the Serbian Orthodox Church of St Sava in Highgate (all in Serbian of course) or the speeches, but in a way this made me even more alert to people's body language to anticipate what might happen next to get the shots I wanted. There was so much vibrancy, so much passion, and a solidarity amongst the guests, celebrating Ana and Andy's wedding at the The University Club of Western Australia with such fervour, that there was always a moment to be captured.
The summer heat has finally relented and as the autumn leaves began to shed, Nicole and Jarrad said "I do" on a balmy March afternoon at Matilda Bay against a backdrop of sailing boats bobbing gently on the river. While we headed off with the bridal party for a few pics after the ceremony, guests enjoyed refreshing punch and drinks on the lawn as the sun gave way to a moonlit evening of frivolities, fine food and dancing.
