Just as we are

I have a thing against families being photographed in matching denim and white shirts. I also really don't like photographing perfectly groomed children smiling stiffly in the direction of my lense. I don't know any family whose lives are not somewhere in the mildly to manically disorganised chaotic spectrum and so that's exactly what I want to capture when I photograph a family - the real stuff. The Hills family was so full of energy and life even at a bleary 6.30am on a recent Sunday morning and I had a ball hanging out with them and the Kombi and my favourite green love chair...
